Dr. Collins
Relief Surgeon
Dr. Collins provides relief general surgery as well as advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgery options. She graduated from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 and has always had a passion for surgery. Through mentorship, continuing education, and hands-on learning opportunities, she has continued to expand the list of surgeries she can provide as an option for clients who cannot pursue referral.
Dr. Judi Freid
Owner, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Judi Freid graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State in 1986. She has been in private practice since graduation and opened the Veterinary Medical Center in 1994. Dr. Freid also worked for a major pharmaceutical company for several years, advising other veterinary professionals and clients about drug safety and drug interactions.
She believes in providing progressive veterinary medicine in an environment with open communication between staff and clients. Dr. Freid has a specific interest in internal medicine.
She resides in West Bloomfield with her one cat, Sheila, and two dogs: a Golden Retriever named Gauge and a German Shepherd named Memphis. Her interests include travel, boating, attending art fairs, and cheering on the Detroit Lions and the MSU Spartan football team.
Dr. Sheri Giardini, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Sheri Giardini is a 1988 honors veterinary graduate of Michigan State University and joined the Red Barn team in 2013. She has a particular interest in internal medicine and enjoys regularly pursuing veterinary continuing education in this field.
Dr. G currently lives in Birmingham, MI, with two “special needs” kitties. In her spare time, she is an avid birder who especially looks forward to observing the many colorful warblers that return each spring to the Tawas area. She also frequently assists several local animal rescue groups.
She loves hiking many different nature trails and is a keen fan of stand-up comedy.
Tayler Eggerding
Veterinary Technician
Tayler Eggerding is the daughter of Dr. Judi Freid, who owns Red Barn Veterinary Medical Center. Tayler began officially working at Red Barn VMC in the spring of 2012, although she has fond memories of life at the clinic even as a little girl.
After high school, she attended Eastern Michigan University to pursue business education, but is now following her lifelong passion of working with animals. Her role includes serving as office manager as well as a technician.
Tayler has two dogs, an American Bulldog named Chompers and a Lab-Shar-Pei mix named Maddie, along with a cat named Marmalade. In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, being out on the water, and tending to her garden.
Kayla Canfield
Veterinary Technician
Kayla has been in the veterinary medicine field since 2019 and graduated from Saint Petersburg College’s Veterinary Technology program in 2022. Originally from Tampa Bay, Kayla now resides in Michigan.
Outside of her professional life, Kayla enjoys spending quality time with loved ones and indulging in hobbies such as crocheting, gardening, photography, and exploring the great outdoors. Her home is filled with the love of her pets: Pumpkin the dachshund, Chloe the Aussie mix, and Floki the Aussie.
